Programme Structure
The 30 ECTS Diploma in Hospitality Business Management is composed of a 12 week module
with three courses covering the fundamentals of hospitality followed by a second 12 week
module also with three courses covering hospitality business management. Each of these 15
ECTS module can be taken separately upon your interests, needs and availability, with a
Certificate in Hospitality Business Management award.
These Diplomas and Certificates are structured according to the Swiss federally recognized
Diplomas and Certificates in Advanced Studies to ensure continuing education alignment.
This 30 ECTS Diploma could be extended to a 60 ECTS Master in Hospitality Business
Management or a 60 ECTS MBA in Hospitality Business Management

Learning Outcomes: MIBD – Montreux students, once the program completed, will be able to enter the hospitality sector
with the aim of having acquired the following competences.
First block module
- To analyse the organization and structure of hotels, restaurants, casinos, cruise lines and clubs.
- To identify opportunities how to manage the customer service to ensure a company’s property’s goals are met.
- To use the Marketing tools in creating a marketing strategy in Hospitality.
Second block module
- To Identify a quality management in the hospitality industry and to evaluate the concept of quality assurance
- To solve revenue-management problems using various models for revenue forecasting, statistical estimation, and optimization
- To apply the entrepreneurial skills to a new business
The program includes a diversity of learning ctivities to ensure students are exposed to different aspects of the hospitality world, opportunities, and challenges. Students will
benefit from:
- Faculty with a strong expertise in the field
- Guest speakers from the hospitality sector
- Applied research and case-study with industry partners
- Visits to hotels
- Final capstone applied project in real-life situation (or in problem solving in their workplace for executive students)
- Possibility to enter the hospitality sector with an internship for students living in Switzerland or for foreign students attending the full Diploma program
- Applicants ideally hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least one year of professional work experience. Professionals without a bachelor’s degree may be admitted on merit, subject to at least three years of professional experience and credentials in marketing, branding and services.
- Working professionals with already work experience in the field of hospitality (based on solid evidence) are not required to attend to the first block.
- Working professional with already a supervisory, leadership or managerial position may enter the Executive version of these Hospitality Business Management programmes.
The language of instruction is English.
